Carlsberg Alcohol Free Pilsner

It’s Friday night and we’re off out for dinner! (or Tea if you’re a northerner!) but every where in town is full and has no table free. Except one. We walked into The Napoli in Leek, Staffordshire after some food and was greeted and sat down pretty quickly. Once handed the menu, the first thing I check out is the drink selection, scanning the pages for any Alcohol Free options. Tonights drink of choice: Carlsberg Alcohol Free Pilsner; never seen this one before, anywhere! Sounds good!

Pouring the drink I immediately notice the sheer amount of fizz in this bottle. It looks (and feels) like a glass of fizzy pop. My partner described it as Iron Bru when she first saw it.

With such a big brand behind this drink, I was expecting a lot and I was not disappointed. While not an actual larger drink, it does taste a little like Carlsberg however, it does seem to be lacking something. Probably the alcohol. On the after after taste, you definitely get the sugar in this very sweet beverage and there is even a hint of apple on the end of the palette.

Overall I would see this drink as a popular choice in bars and in the home, as an alternative to Heineken or Becks Blue as it has its own, distinct flavour compared to these two true larger’s. A definite “must try” if you have a particularly sweet tooth.
