This is the second beer I have tried from C/O/A/S/T, a new brewery to the non alcoholic scene and their first beer, Farmhouse Ale did not disappoint; and neither did this.
In contrast to the Farmhouse Ale, this IPA, as the name suggests is cloudy and yellow in colour. No head formed when I poured this and I could immediately tell the difference with the amount of fizz between the two candidates; with the Hazy IPA having considerably less.
Inhaling the scent of the beer produces a world of wonder as I try to figure out what I can detect however the combination of flavours make it difficult to separate. I certainly get the citrus of the Citra hops used in brewing this fine IPA, but I can also smell the oats which take the edge off the Citra which provides a nice balance.
There is no way to describe it but like this: My first taste made me say “Woooaaarrrhhh” as I took a few sips of this delicious beer, the bubbles dancing on my tongue. The flavour again, like the odour, is difficult to pin down exactly what individual flavours you can get but for me, I could get the oats but the aftertaste strangely reminded me of the popular chocolate, Kinder Bueno. I tried several times and got the same results.
This very refreshing beer is a fantastic offering from C/O/A/S/T and is perfect for this sunny weather we are currently having in Britain. I’ll be sure to order a batch of these and it’s sibling, Farmhouse Ale to keep in the cooler, ready for the next heatwave.
